This site has been commissioned by the family to help raise awareness for the arrest and wrongful incarceration of Michael Hassen who has been accused of abusing his infant son without supporting evidence. His two-year-old infant son is happy and thriving, but Michael remains jailed on a $1.5 million secured bond since November 22, 2023.
We, the Hassen Family, are reaching out to the community and seeking support to help Michael get released from jail. Your contribution can make a significant difference in his life and his legal battle.

Statement of Outrage: A Clear Violation of Michael Hassen’s Civil Rights
As the parents of Michael Hassen, we are filled with horror and indignation at the profound injustices he has suffered at the hands of the Wake County legal system and the ADA handling Michael’s case. The unfounded allegations of child abuse against our innocent son are a direct result of systemic negligence and a complete failure by those entrusted to provide care and provide justice for the innocent.
Call for Justice
Michael’s son, our grandson Milo, was born into an already perilous situation, facing severe complications such as double nuchal cord entanglement and critically low vitamin D levels. Despite irrefutable, compelling evidence of medical negligence and expert analysis that proves Michael’s innocence, he has been wrongfully detained in Wake County Jail since November 22, 2023 without being formally charged of any crime. The family has faced not only emotional devastation but also financial ruin, forced to sell our home to afford legal representation and experts to advocate for Michael’s innocence. It is intolerable that our son remains behind bars while incompetent medical practices and slanderous narratives continue to overshadow the truth.
We demand accountability from the Wake County Justice Department and ADA to either charge Michael or release him from jail IMMEDIATELY! The law states that is essential that those in positions of authority acknowledge their role in this miscarriage of justice.
Michael Hassen deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, not vilified without cause. We call on the community, lawmakers, and the media to reflect on the gravity of these injustices and to help support efforts toward accountability and restorative justice for our family.

I've known Michael for 16 years. He has always been a man who treats others with respect even if it is not reciprocated. I've watched him over the years grow with his daughter and have observed how much of a devoted father he is to his family.
Any time I would need help with various aspects of life, he was always the first person I would call, because of his work ethic, integrity, and character. Michael is a great example of what a devoted father and friend should aspire to be. He loves his family and friends greatly and has always shown a deep regard for their well-being.

I have known Michael’s mom Melissa Hassen for many years now. Michael’s parents have raised a young man who is loving, kind, caring, smart, intelligent, hardworking, thoughtful, motivated, and a supportive young man, not only to his entire family but also to the people he comes in contact with daily.
The few encounters that I have had the pleasure to be with Michael, he was truly a delight. He personally had helped me on a healthy path towards my health that was critical to me, in me making healthier habits.

He's a family man, a caring and loving father, son, husband and in no way would he hurt his children—he protects his children and his family. I met his daughter Mille—she loves and respects her father.
Michael is not an abuser, not a child molester, not a monster. He has a kind soul, he is loving, caring and a supportive father.

In all of my interactions with Michael, I have consistently found him to be trustworthy, hardworking, and most notably loving toward his children. Especially toward his daughter Millie. I watched Michael, as the primary in-home caregiver while his wife was at work, incorporate Millie into all daily activities like gardening, reading, dancing and cooking.
Michael is a family man. As a husband and father, Michael made sure his children spent ample quality time with their grandparents and extended family. Michael would often host family night at his house, preparing meals he and Millie made, inviting their entire extend family to come and share. His commitment to his family speaks volumes about his character and integrity.
